A well-run Google Business Profile wins calls from people who never visit your website. For a Brampton service business, getting it right means following Google's rules for service-area businesses, choosing accurate categories, and keeping it active with photos, updates and reviews every month.
We manage profiles as part of a joined-up plan with your website and ads. We are a marketing and consulting service only; we don't perform the services your profile lists.
How the map results decide who shows up
Google says local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Distance is how far you are from the searcher. Prominence draws on things like reviews, ratings and links from other websites.
The same page says there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. That's useful to know when someone offers you a shortcut.
Distance matters a lot in a city of Brampton's size. A profile based near Springdale will tend to show more strongly for nearby searches than for searches in Bram West. That's why we set realistic expectations by ward pair, and use pages and ads to reach further.
Google's rules for service-area businesses
Google's guidelines for representing your business set out a few rules that catch out many Brampton owners:
- Hide the address if customers don't come to you. A business that works from home and travels to customers should hide the address and set service areas.
- Keep the service area realistic. The guidelines say a service area shouldn't extend beyond about two hours' driving time from your base, with some exceptions.
- Use your real name only. No taglines, service descriptions or location words added to the name unless they're on your signage and paperwork.
- No unstaffed virtual offices. A rented address that nobody staffs during business hours doesn't count as a location.
Breaking these rules risks suspension, which can take weeks to undo. We set profiles up correctly before doing anything to improve visibility.
What's included
- Ownership check. We confirm the profile is owned by your business account, not a former employee or an old agency, and add ourselves as managers.
- Category and service review. The primary category that best describes your main work, sensible secondary categories, and services written in the words customers use.
- Service areas. Set to the ward pairs and nearby municipalities you actually serve.
- Photos. A monthly batch of real job, vehicle and team photos, supplied by you and labelled properly.
- Updates and offers. Short posts when there's something real to say: seasonal work, new services, changes to hours.
- Review routine. A simple ask after each completed job, by text or email, and a reply to every review, positive or not.
- Accuracy checks. Hours, phone number and website link checked monthly, and suggested edits from the public reviewed.
Timeline
| Period | Work |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Ownership, guidelines check, name and address fixes |
| Weeks 2–3 | Categories, services, service areas, first photo batch |
| Month 2 | Review routine running; first monthly report |
| Months 3–6 | Steady photos, posts and reviews; visibility sampled across the city |
Profile fixes can show in results within weeks. Prominence builds more slowly, because reviews arrive one job at a time.
How we measure profile results
We report the numbers Google provides, plus our own checks:
- calls, website clicks and direction requests from the profile
- the search terms people used to find you
- review count and average rating over time
- visibility sampled from several points across Brampton, not just from your own office
A worked example: if the profile produces 40 calls a month and you book 35% of them, that's 14 jobs. If a cleaned-up profile lifts calls to 55 with the same booking rate, that's about 19 jobs, five more a month from a channel with no click costs.
Mistakes to avoid
- Stuffing the name. "Best Plumber Brampton 24/7" in the business name is against the guidelines and invites suspension.
- Two profiles for one business. Duplicates split reviews and confuse Google. We merge or remove them properly.
- Buying or swapping reviews. It breaks Google's policies and can remove every review you have.
- Hours that don't match reality. If the profile says open and the phone rings out, customers notice, and so do reviews.
- Ignoring negative reviews. A calm, specific reply often reassures future customers more than the review worries them.

Frequently asked questions
Should a home-based business show its address?
Google's guidelines say service-area businesses should hide their address, for example a plumber working from home. You set service areas instead, and the profile still appears in local results.
Can I add 'Brampton' or my main service to the business name?
Only if it's genuinely part of your real-world name, as shown on signage, invoices and your website. Google's guidelines say unnecessary information in the name isn't permitted and can lead to suspension.
How many reviews do I need?
There's no magic number. What matters is a steady flow of genuine reviews over time and replies to each one. We set up a routine your team can follow after every completed job.
Can you get us into the top three on the map?
No one can promise that. Google states there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. We work on the factors Google names: relevance, distance and prominence.
